Special Events

Summer Camp for 2011!
Let’s have fun together during our Summer Camp. We will learn Italian through project based workshops (Laboratori).

WEEKS 1 and 2: June 20th - 22nd and
June 27th - 29th
Laboratorio di Teatro (Theatre Workshop): Fairy tales on stage

Become a character of your favorite fairytale on stage. Children will perform some popular fairytales and create their own costume. Every child will take home their artwork.

No school July 4th - July 6th

WEEK 3: July 11th – 13th
Puppets’ Creative Atelier
Learn how to build your own puppet. Campers will create their own stuffed puppets and learn the basics of stitching.

WEEK 4: July 18th – 20th

Laboratorio di Cucina: Cooking workshop

Explore Italian style cuisine. Learn the name of the ingredients and common terms used in the kitchen (La Cucina). Bring home your super-yummie recipes to share.

WEEK 5: July 25th - 27th
Laboratorio di Pasta: Pasta workshop

The little Italian campers will play with pasta dough and learn how to make spaghetti and tagliatelle. They will also help prepare some sauces for a good family dinner.

WEEK 6: August 1st – 3rd
Laboratorio Giardinaggio: Garden and life

Explore and create your own garden. Let’s plant together and see which insects we can find. Every child will take home his/her miniature garden.

WEEK 7: August 8th – 10th
Laboratorio Musicale: Let’s Dance and Sing together

Our little students will learn to play with some different instruments, sing and mime Italian children songs.

WEEK 8: August 15th – 17th
Atelier of reading and Book making

Let’s read in Italian and learn how make your own book.

WEEK 9: August 22nd – 24th
Laboratorio d’Arte: Botticelli for a Day!

Children will be exposed to Italian art with a slide show of the most famous Italian artworks and they will make their own painting.

School year 2011-2012 starts on August 29!

Policies:

  • Students currently enrolled in the pre-school program and siblings have priority.
  • Summer camp application forms are due March 31st, 2011.
  • Non- refundable deposits are due by March 1st, 2011. Please bring all the forms along with a non-refundable check to school in the amount of $500 payable to TCSD.

Fees and Hours:
The program will run as follows:
MON, TUE, WED from 9:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m.

Upon availability for people who are not currently enrolled but want to be part of the summer camp program:

2 times per week = $500/month
3 times per week = $650/month

$165 weekly rate if you choose and pick the week you like.

Note: Healthy snacks are included. Please bring your own lunch.



Favole Al Teatro:
A guide to Italian’s classic Fables
Let’s put classic stories on stage and have fun with roleplaying. Cost: $180 for 8 weeks of 2 hour classes.




Italian Movie Night for Children: The last Saturday of the month, children will be invited to spend the evening with us from 5:00-9:00. (We are offering more time for you to enjoy your evening out.) Together we will watch a funny cartoon in Italian, suitable for any age, and we will have activities for the rest of the night.

The activities are developmentally appropriate for your child age and they will include:
- board games
- educational games
- arts and crafts
- puppets
- story telling
- and more

A balanced organic dinner we'll be served.
Cost: $30 per child. If you have two kids the cost is $50.

First Grade Classes

Children have the opportunity to learn Italian language, history and geography in our Kindergarten and First Grade class. Please visit our Italiamore classes page to learn more about this class and others for elementary age children.
